Since joining University last September, I have developed a somewhat unhealthy relationship with Custard Creams. My obsession reached the point where I would wake up in the morning wondering where my next biscuit would come from. But what hit me was not that I am addicted to Custard Creams, not that I was slowly gaining weight and not even that my chances of a heart attack were gradually increasing, but actually the fact I had only ever tried Tesco's own brand Custard Creams!!! There are a whole world of the creamy biscuit out there and I have only ever tried one version! From that day on I decided that I would travel around the UK finding, eating and reviewing all the different Custard Creams. So here I am, right at the start. Wish me well!

NOTE: For any people hoping for a review of Waitrose's Custard Creams, I am afraid I will not be reviewing them as I have vowed never to buy anything from there ever again. This is due to Waitrose being a god awful, over-priced, atmosphere lacking, oddly organised, badly presented, smelly, shed of a shop and a disgrace to proper supermarkets, such as Sainsbury's.

Day 2: Sainsbury's Custard Creams. 49p. 200g. (3.0625p/biscuit)

So, on the second day of my Custard Dream I am working. Hardly "The Dream" right? Well you'd be surprised. I have just started some part time work in Sainsbury's which gave me the ideal opportunity to review their own brand Custard Creams. After nearly forgetting to buy them on my break... whoops! I sit down in the canteen and break open the pack (which is a single filed biscuit formation, as opposed to the more popular double) and enter the first biscuit into the gaping abyss that is my mouth.

The taste hit me instantly, unlike the Co-Op's biscuits the biscuit part of the Custard Cream actually had a nice taste and a creamy texture. Not only that but the cream middle was also very tasty and offered a bit of moisture to the biscuit allowing for easier consecutive consumption, which was also aided by the smooth biscuit to cream transition. Unfortunately, though, the pack was not as big as most of its competitors (from what i've seen so far) and as a result probably wouldn't be enough for a family, but would work as an excellent snack instead of the over-priced chocolate bars on sale today.

Biscuit: 8/10
Cream: 8/10
Price: 5/10

Overall: 21/10
